Ice Hockey Adventure
Over the weekend a number of our Club members were involved in the NZIHA Inter Regional competition in Auckland. Hosted by the Viper's who are based at the Auckland City Council-run Glenfield Rink on the North Shore there were lots of tough games and some great hockey.
Then for a bit of fun on Sunday a number of LNI players and families headed across the bridge to go ice skating at the Paradice Rink in Avondale. Not having an ice hockey rink in Wellington didn't seem to slow anyone down, even those who hadn't been on ice before quickly got used to the new skates and surface and before long everyone was doing hockey drills and then playing some ice hockey.
It was amazing to see how quickly the kids in particular transferred their skills across quickly from inline to ice and it was awesome to see so many smiles on so many faces!
Next time there is talk of challenging one of the local ice teams to a game!
